To my Scorpio friend Nikhil Sehrawat

Between the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil and Haryana, in northern India, lies approximately 14,000 km in a straight line (by air), and a time zone difference that causes us to oscillate between day and night, separated by 8 hours and 30 minutes. Even so, our friendship flourishes, crossing borders, cultures, and time.

Nikhil Sehrawat was born into a Jaat family, a traditional community in northern India known for its connection to the land, agriculture, and sense of community. He grew up vegetarian, nourishing himself with chapati (traditional Indian bread, made without yeast, prepared with flour, water, and salt, and cooked directly on a hot griddle or pan) and vegetables, symbols of simplicity and abundance. Every morning, his mother crosses her hands in prayer, asking God to keep everything safe. He carries this memory in mind, cultivating faith and gratitude, always with deep love for his parents and family, living in community and valuing the spirit of unity.

In Haryana, summers in June and July reach 40 degrees Celsius, while the months of September to December bring milder temperatures, between 25 and 10 degrees Celsius. For celebrations and everyday life, the kurta, made of cotton or silk, is the traditional garment that combines comfort, simplicity, and cultural identity, reflecting the understated elegance of Indian tradition.

A close friend of Nikhil’s, Sourav, has a Sanskrit tattoo: अंत अस्थि प्रारम्भ, which means “the end is the beginning.” A symbol of renewal, of cycles that never end, only transform. This vision resonates with Nikhil’s faith in Lord Shiva, lord of destruction and creation, guardian of new beginnings and the eternal dance of life.

A practitioner of Hinduism, Nikhil finds in India’s spiritual tradition not only rituals and beliefs, but a path of discipline, devotion, and connection with the divine. His faith in Shiva and his daily life reveal the depth of a spirituality that unites practice, philosophy, and community life.

Born on November 18th as a Scorpio, Nikhil is a gentle, polite, empathetic, charming, and hardworking man whose essence reflects both the intensity of his sign and the serenity of his spirituality.

And I, from Brazil, share with him my fascination with the Indian content I’ve watched: the film The Man Who Discovered Infinity, based on true events; the touching documentary Daughters of Destiny, which tells the story of the Shanti Bhavan school-project; and the inspiring film Like Stars on Earth, which shows the beauty and challenges of a child with dyslexia. I have also deepened my practice of Patanjali’s Yoga, always remembering the invocation:

“O wise Patanjali,
who offered us the path of yoga,
guide our minds to discipline,
our bodies to harmony,
and our hearts to peace.
May we tread the eight steps
with clarity, courage, and devotion,
until we reach union with the divine.”

Thus, even at a distance, our conversations transcend time and space, uniting two seemingly distinct worlds in a bridge of eternal friendship. Between Haryana and the rhythm of the cities of Ouro Preto and Mariana, in the State of Minas Gerais (Brazil), between day and night, between the end and the beginning, we remain connected by words, faith, and mutual respect.
